Kiss Before Dying, A

Kiss Before Dying, A
Kiss Before Dying, A (1956)

IMDB rating: 6.80

Plot: Bud Corliss is an ambitious college student with big plans for himself and an heiress, Dorothy Kingship. But then Dorothy goes and gets herself pregnant. It’s his child, too, of course; but this ruins everything. Her moralistic father will disown her and will certainly never accept him. It seems he’s trapped. Bud’s mother knows something is troubling her son, but he won’t talk to her about it. All she knows is that Bud doesn’t want to turn out like his father, with holes in his shoes. He doesn’t have to worry. As his mother says, when he turns his mind to something, he does it. Unknown to her, his thoughts have turned to murder.

Repitition and alliteration in a poem?
The Gift

To pull the metal splinter from my palm
my father recited a story in a low voice.
I watched his lovely face and not the blade.
Before the story ended, he’d removed
the iron sliver I thought I’d die from.

I can’t remember the tale,
but hear his voice still, a well
of dark water, a prayer.
And I recall his hands,
two measures of tenderness
he laid against my face,
the flames of discipline
he raised above my head.

Had you entered that afternoon
you would have thought you saw a man
planting something in a boy’s palm,
a silver tear, a tiny flame.
Had you followed that boy
you would have arrived here,
where I bend over my wife’s right hand.

Look how I shave her thumbnail down
so carefully she feels no pain.
Watch as I lift the splinter out.
I was seven when my father
took my hand like this,
and I did not hold that shard
between my fingers and think,
Metal that will bury me,
christen it Little Assassin,
Ore Going Deep for My Heart.
And I did not lift up my wound and cry,
Death visited here!
I did what a child does
when he’s given something to keep.
I kissed my father.

What are some examples of alliteration and repitition in this poem?

Sorry to say there are none.

We have creepy neighbors!?
I am literally surrounded! lol
1. New neighbors across the street. My sis is friends with the girl, and the girl is obsessed with her. She will call my sister to see what she is doing, and if she says "not much", the girl replies "No. You’re on the computer. I’m watching you through your window." The first day I met her, she asked me if she could put her number in my phone. I was like "Okay, whatever, lets be polite here" and handed my phone to her. She was looking through all of my pictures and contacts! Whenever she is over, I have to turn the computer around because I have caught her standing stick straight behind me watching what I was doing on numerous occasions. She isn’t 6 either, she’s like 13!
The parents asked my mom which bedroom window belonged to who’s bedroom. They are constantly spying on us.

2. Our next door neighbors stare at us whenever we go outside. It isn’t a friendly or even curious stare, but more of a "I’m going to lock you up in my basement" kind of stare.
We’ve had our series of creepy neighbors in this particular house.

3. A neighbor behind our house was staring at me through the glass back door (not a metaphor! lol) from her 2nd story window. I didn’t really mind, but I found it odd, so I waved and she disappeared. I think she’s probably nice though.
My family is by no means normal, but I doubt that it has anything to do with the fact that all of my neighbors could be making test tube aliens in their basements to form a lynch mob.

Do you have creepy neighbors?

no….mine is a widower who minds hiw own business..just ignore yours…on your property just say get out or shut the drapes if theyre further away

I know how you feel. All I can say is just do your normal routine and don’t pay attention to the neighbors. They obviously don’t have a life and are probably just curious. I never bother any of my neighbors and just mind my own business. I still see people looking at me. People are strange and I just laugh. Don’t worry about it the newness will wear off and you will live your life without giving them a second thought.

I know it’s illegal to have cameras pointed at someone’s window, so I’m pretty sure it’s illegal to have someone spying on you through the window. The next time you see them staring, you could call the cops and tell them your situation. If they can’t help you, keep your blinds closed or buy heavy drapes. Or set up one of those neighbor complaint things if you live in a community.
